The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission officially voted to terminate its contract with Progressive Rail at its Thursday meeting, which begins the process of taking over operations on the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line. As that happens, planners are working on the new trail-over-rail design.

Caltrans is continuing its four-day paving project on Highway 9 in Boulder Creek and Brookdale through Thursday. Work will be done from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Highway 9 brush clearing continues this week
Starting Tuesday, crews will focus on the stretch of Highway 9 north of Boulder Creek, between Shilo Drive and Waterman Gap. Drivers should expect to wait up to 15 minutes when traffic is limited to one lane, from Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highway 9 road closures continue for vegetation work
The entire length of Highway 9 will be affected by road closures this week for a vegetation control project. While the project, which runs through Friday, spans the entirety of the highway, crews will be focused on an area north of Boulder Creek from Juanita Woods Road to just north of the Waterman Gap, Caltrans said.

Public input sought on Santa Cruz County transportation spending
