Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County received a one-time grant of $250,000 from Dignity Health to help strengthen short-term housing services.
The funds are conditional and require a mid-year and annual report on the funds, said Christine McMurry, Communications Manager for Dignity Health. Organizations that receive the grant are also required to have spent the money by June 30 of next year.
The grant process was led by Dignity Health’s Research & Equity Advisory Council for Housing Insecurities, a council composed of individuals who have experienced homelessness.
The funding is part of a larger initiative aimed at addressing California’s homelessness crisis throughout the state. Dignity Health provided a total of $1 million to four California health services agencies serving the homeless. The Community Action Board was the only community-based organization outside of Los Angeles that was awarded funding.
