Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • South Highway 1 is facing closures at Highway 129 because of roadwork. The closure is expected to last until Sept. 9.
     
  • Alternating lanes are closed on Highway 129 at Highway 1 because of roadwork. This closure is expected to last until Sept. 9.
     
  • There is one-way traffic on Highway 129 at Union Street because of roadwork. This closure is expected to last until Sept. 9.
     
  • A lane on Highway 129 at Riverside Drive is closed for electrical work. The closure is expected to last until 12:01 p.m. tomorrow.
     

Community crime report

  • A burglary happened at Watsonville High School when someone got into a classroom through an unlatched window and stole items. The incident took place near the 200 block of E. Beach Street, Watsonville, around 2 a.m. on Sept. 1. (source)
      
  • Police contacted a person after seeing them use drugs near the 2000 block of Freedom Boulevard, Watsonville at 9 a.m. on Sept. 1. The person was found with two stolen laptops and illegal drug items. They were arrested for having stolen property, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance. (source)
     
  • Three people were arrested for loitering on private property, having open containers of alcohol nearby, and several other offenses. The incident happened near the 1500 block of Freedom Boulevard in Watsonville at 5 p.m. on Sept. 1. The charges included using someone else’s access card information without permission, identity theft, having illegal drug paraphernalia, possessing a controlled substance, disorderly conduct due to alcohol, a bench warrant, and probation violation. One person was also arrested for public intoxication. (source)
     
  • Police found a person with drug paraphernalia and a container of white powder during an area check near the 2000 block of Freedom Boulevard, Watsonville, at 8 a.m. on Sept. 1. The person was arrested for having a controlled substance with previous offenses and for having illegal paraphernalia. (source)
