Nearly 6,500 residents in Capitola and Live Oak are without power Wednesday afternoon, according to PG&E officials.

Nearly 6,500 residents in Capitola and Live Oak were out of power Wednesday afternoon, according to PG&E spokesperson Stephanie Magallon. 

The outage spans the 41st Avenue corridor, Capitola Village, areas in Pleasure Point and neighborhoods north of Live Oak near Dominican Hospital.

Magallon told Lookout that the outage was first reported just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, and added that the outage was caused by an equipment issue. Currently, PG&E expects power to be restored to at least 5,800 residents within the hour, she said.
