Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • A code violation notice has been issued for the property at 820 Granite Ridge Dr. under case number NV25402. According to the “CODE COMPLIANCE CASE(S)” section, the property was cited for operating an unpermitted event venue known as “The Ridge.” This violation means that events were being hosted at the location without obtaining the necessary permits or approvals from the county, which is not allowed under local building and zoning codes.

New local businesses

  • A new business named MOUNTAIN SUN CONSTRUCTION was registered at 961 Burl Rd., Santa Cruz, on Sept. 1. The business was registered by Daniel Edward Thiel as an individual business.
     
  • A new business named FINE LINE NOTARY & SIGNING was registered at 622 Coast Range Dr., Scotts Valley, on Sept. 3. The business was registered by Helen Louise Youmans as an individual business.

Community crime report

  • A person was arrested for several offenses, including resisting or obstructing an officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance, violating probation, and sexual battery. The incident happened near northbound Highway 17 at Vine Hill Road at 6 a.m. on Aug. 28. (source)
       
  • A person was arrested for multiple counts of disobeying a court order and for a probation violation, but all charges were later dropped. The incident happened near Conference Drive and Forest Road at 10 a.m. on Sept. 5. (source
