Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • The southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue in Capitola is scheduled to be closed for approximately four months as crews reconstruct the ramp as part of the bus-on-shoulder facility. The closure began on Aug. 2.
     

New local businesses

  • A new business named CYPRESS AND CO., CYPRESS READINESS was registered at 2113 Derby Ave., Capitola, on Sept. 2. The business was registered by Considerate Concierge LLC as a limited liability company.
     
  • A new business named BLUE LAVA CAFE was registered at 2121 41st Ave., #107, Capitola, on Sept. 3. The business was registered by Jamjuree LLC as a limited liability company.

Community crime report

  • An assault involving force likely to cause serious injury, along with false imprisonment and injury to a spouse or partner, happened near the 400 block of Capitola Avenue in Capitola. The incident occurred at 5 p.m. on Aug. 27. (source)
