The Santa Cruz Fire Department recovered a body in the ocean near Natural Bridges State Beach on Wednesday morning.
Santa Cruz Police Department spokesperson Katie Lee told Lookout that kayakers found the body floating in the water about a quarter-mile offshore, and reported it to emergency response agencies around 10:47 a.m. The individual was pronounced dead upon first responders’ arrival, and the coroner’s office has taken over the investigation.
Lee added that investigators have not yet determined if it is the body of missing UC Santa Cruz student Dylan Wendling, who was last seen on Oct. 20 near Natural Bridges.
