Santa Cruz County officials lifted evacuation warnings for much of the region Thursday afternoon after high tides and huge waves caused flooding and damage to parts of Capitola and Aptos. But they warned that the county is set to see more rain on Friday, followed by another “significant coastal wave event” early Saturday morning.

State Parks preparing for post-Christmas high tides, closing some park areas
High tides and large swells are making their way to Santa Cruz County, prompting the closure of several areas of Seacliff State Beach and New Brighton Beach. However, these tides are not considered King Tides. For that phenomenon, you’ll have to wait until January 11.
