Road incidents as of 8:30 p.m. on January 16

  • Two lit flares were found in the road near brush on Highway 9 South at Glengarry Road in San Lorenzo Valley, raising concerns about a possible fire hazard. The incident was reported today.
     
  • South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley has one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure will last until April 1 at 3:59 p.m.
     
  • A traffic collision happened at 5:44 p.m. today on southbound Highway 1 in Aptos. The crash involved a Hyundai Sonata and possibly a Toyota Prius. One of the drivers left before authorities arrived. People reported hearing bottles clinking in a vehicle, but it’s unclear if any were thrown out. Emergency services and a tow truck responded to the scene.
     
  • The southbound Highway 1 Park Avenue offramp in Santa Cruz County (Eastside / Live Oak) will be closed on Tuesday, January 20, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. so crews can pour concrete for a new soundwall near the ramp.
     
  • A traffic collision happened at 7:50 p.m. today at 15725 Kings Creek Rd in San Lorenzo Valley, involving a silver Volkswagen Jetta and a gray Nissan Rogue. No one was hurt. Both cars were on the right-hand shoulder, and traffic could get by. A tow was called for the Volkswagen Jetta.
     
  • A traffic hazard was reported today at the intersection of Graham Hill Rd and Bridlewood Ct in the Eastside / Live Oak area.
