Donald Trump is not the only one who can wreak havoc in his first 100 days, although to be fair, it has taken Gabriel Medina an additional month to do most of his damage.
The latest assault on the integrity of his office as a Pajaro Valley Unified School District trustee was his attempt to threaten to sue the district for $35,000 because two brave women had the courage to author and vote for a censure motion. His claims of defamation are absurd as he has admitted that the items in the censure motion were essentially true. Any lawsuit would have been thrown out but would have cost the district thousands in attorney fees. Because of his continuing violation of the Brown Act, the district is now having legal counsel at every board meeting, causing yet additional costs to the PVUSD.
From his first month in office when he objected to a student of a Christian bible college becoming a student teacher, to his antisemitic comments at board meetings, Gabriel Medina has demonstrated that he is unfit for the office. Mr. Medina, to his credit, has acknowledged that he is in need of psychological counseling. I suggest that he take advantage of the generous health insurance package he receives as a trustee and receive that counseling.
His current level of functioning is not conducive to being a school board member. If he refuses or he continues in his destructive ways then the board should once again bring a motion of censure and this time it should be approved.
