Property development

  • On October 14, 2025, the Santa Cruz County Planning Department formally approved a zoning application for a multifamily housing project at 2100 Chanticleer Ave. in the Live Oak Planning. The approved project will demolish the existing single-family on the site and construct an eight-unit apartment building, featuring a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom, with25% of the units designated as low-income housing. The two-story building will have a total floor area of 6,798 square feet and a detached garage. The development will provide 14 parking spaces— of which are reserved for guests—as well as bike parking. The project required an Administrative Site Development Permit, and public comments on the application are due by August 1, 2025, with a final decision expected shortly after August 4, 2025. Appeals to the decision can be submitted within two weeks of the approval date. (view application)
