In a game that had to be rescheduled for Sunday due to previous inclement weather, a team of Santa Cruz County's top girls' flag football players came up just short to Monterey County's best in a contest at Aptos High School.

The 2nd annual Central Coast Girls Flag Football All-Star Game took place Sunday at Aptos High School.

The North All-Stars, featuring the best of Santa Cruz County, lost 19-12 to the South All-Stars, who were the best of Monterey County.

A total of 34 top high school seniors competed.

The event organizers, Reggie Stephens and Joel Domhoff, both run nonprofit organizations— The Reggie Stephens Foundation and the Gino Panelli Foundation — which help support the event.

The day kicked off at noon with a skills competition followed by the game. Domhoff told Lookout that the game is part of a growing effort to give girls the same athletic opportunities that boys have had.
