- The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has officially approved a zoning application for a project at 960 Via Malibu in Aptos. This project involves the expansion and remodeling of an existing single-family home, adding 830.5 square feet to the first floor. This addition will increase the total living area from 1,732.34 square feet to 2,577.6 square feet while maintaining the current three-bedroom, two-bathroom layout. Situated on a 9,278.28 square foot lot, the proposed changes will result in a lot coverage of 35.5%, which complies with zoning regulations. Due to its location within a coastal zone, the project requires an Administrative Coastal Development Permit. Residents are encouraged to submit public comments on the application until May 30, with a decision anticipated on or after June 2. Appeals can be filed within two weeks following the decision.
