Farmers market Sunday

The Corralitos Farm & Garden Market is a small, friendly, open-air market made up of local farmers and gardeners who grow within about a 5-mile radius of Corralitos. Seasonally is has strawberries, blueberries, cherries, lemons, tomatoes, herbs, squash, potatoes, carrots, peas, beets, and avocados, as well as a variety of other fruits, vegetables, lettuces and salad greens. Bakers offer treats, along with a table full of beautiful potted flowers. You may find expertly handmade natural soaps, and homemade jams and preserves.

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Safeway #2840 at 2010 Freedom Blvd., Freedom, was cited for high-risk violations of unapproved food sources or contaminated food and low-risk violations of inadequate washing of utensils or equipment during a county health inspection on June 10. A reinspection will be required at a later date to confirm the issues are addressed.

Community crime report

  • A person was arrested for driving with a suspended license due to a previous DUI. The incident happened near the 1500 block of Freedom Boulevard, Watsonville, at midnight on June 11. The person was cited and released at the scene. The case is closed. (source)
