Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is currently accepting public comments on a zoning application for 46 Sunset Drive, Watsonville 95076, where the applicant seeks to renew a permit allowing a one-bedroom vacation rental in an existing single-family home. If approved, the permit would allow overnight lodging for stays of up to 30 days at a time. Residents who wish to share their input or concerns about this proposed project must submit their comments before the deadline of March 16, as no public comments will be accepted after that date. Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A dark blue Tesla and a white Bronco were involved in a collision on northbound Highway 17 at Laurel in Scotts Valley. The Tesla was reportedly speeding and road raging, which led to the other vehicle colliding with it. Both cars ended up on the right shoulder. No one was injured and there was no blockage of the road. The incident was reported today.
     
  • South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley has one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure will last until April 1.
     

Farmers’ market Sunday

The Corralitos Farm & Garden Market is a small, friendly, open air market made up of local farmers and gardeners who grow within about a five mile radius of Corralitos. Seasonally is has strawberries, blueberries, cherries, lemons, tomatoes, herbs, squash, potatoes, carrots, peas, beets, and avocados, as well as a variety of other fruits, vegetables, lettuces and salad greens. Bakers offer treats, along with a table full of beautiful potted flowers. You may find expertly handmade natural soaps, and homemade jams and preserves.
