Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has formally approved a zoning application for a project at 21305 East Cliff Dr. as of February 5. The approved project will renovate part of an existing motel by converting three spa rooms into three guest rooms and one manager’s unit, with the manager’s unit also serving as the facility for guest check-in. This will increase the total number of guest rooms from 10 to 11 and add a manager’s unit. All work will be limited to the building’s interior, except for replacing a double door with a single door and enlarging one window to meet emergency egress requirements. There will be no changes to the building’s exterior footprint, height, number of stories, lot coverage, or site grading, and the required and proposed parking will remain at 12 spaces. The project requires a minor variation to existing coastal development permits. (view application)

  • A permit application has been filed for a new project at 615 7TH Avenue in Santa Cruz, proposing the construction of a 56-foot tall monopine (a pine tree-shaped wireless communication tower) at the existing PG&E site. The new tower would be installed alongside an existing 95-foot wireless facility already located on the property. The project is seeking approval for both a Site Development Permit and a Coastal Development Permit. (view details)
