Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • North Highway 1 at 41st Avenue in Capitola/Soquel has alternating lanes closed for a striping operation. The closure will last until 4:59 a.m. on May 5.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are completely closed for road excavation. This closure will continue until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     
  • A lane on North Highway 17 at Spanish Bit Chapel in Scotts Valley is closed for tree work. The closure is expected to end at 12:01 p.m. today.
     
  • Long-term projects: Sims Road and La Madrona Drive: A single lane is closed for a pipeline project from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026. Traffic control is in place between Brook Knoll Road and 600 La Madrona Drive. **Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue:** Road closures and traffic delays are expected due to a pump station upgrade project from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has formally approved a zoning application for the renewal of a permit to operate a 2-bedroom vacation rental at 750 24th Avenue in Santa Cruz, as of April 25. (view application)
