Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

  • Southbound lanes of State Route 17 are closed for electrical work. The closure is expected to end today.
     

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The property at 275 Pinewood St, Santa Cruz, which was cited for building code violations under case number NV24723, has now addressed the issues initially identified on April 20, 2022. The violations included an unpermitted conversion of the garage into an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and the operation of an unpermitted vacation rental. The county is currently monitoring the property to ensure ongoing compliance with local regulations.
     
  • A code violation notice has been issued for the property located at 257 Waugh Ave, Santa Cruz, under case number NV25182. The violation pertains to the unauthorized conversion of a single-family dwelling into a multi-family dwelling without securing the required permits.
     

Restaurant inspections

  • One Double Oh Seven Club at 1007 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on Jan. 9 with no critical issues.
     
  • The Grog Shop at 110 Hubbard St, Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on Jan. 9 with no critical issues.
     
  • Best Western All Suites Inn B&b at 500 Ocean St, Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on Jan. 14 with no critical issues.
     
  • Sure Stay at 516 Water St, Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on Jan. 14 with no critical issues.
     
  • Taqueria Vallarta at 608 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on Jan. 14 with no critical issues.
