The news Tuesday that KION has shut down its local news operations came as a shock to both staff and viewers, Christopher Neely reports, and leaves KSBW as the only local TV station serving more than 750,000 residents across Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties.
The Watsonville City Council moved ahead Tuesday with next steps to help reduce the number of unhoused residents in the city, Tania Ortiz reports, adopting its first homelessness strategic plan. The plan focuses on four areas: housing, policy and funding, prevention and resources, and management and enforcement.

As KION ends local news, KSBW is now only TV broadcaster serving 750K on the Central Coast
