Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has formally approved a zoning application for a project at 1148 Lakeside Drive in Felton, CA, as of August 15. The proposal involves renewing a permit to operate a two-bedroom vacation rental within an existing single-family home. This permit allows the property to be used for short-term overnight lodging, with stays capped at 30 days. Located approximately 800 feet northwest of the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Lakeside Drive, the renewal application was expected to be approved barring any documented violations of the Vacation Rental Ordinance. Public comments were accepted until August 4, with a decision made on or after August 5. Appeals against this decision must be filed within two weeks of the decision date. Residents are encouraged to report any issues related to the vacation rental to the emergency contact, whose information is available on the property and the Planning Department’s website.
