Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A hit and run happened on northbound Highway 17 at El Rancho today. No injuries were reported.
     
  • A car hit a deer at 6:07 a.m. today on southbound Highway 1 at the Airport Blvd. offramp in Watsonville / Pajaro. Fluids were leaking from the car, and fire services were on the way. No injuries were reported. A tow truck was called and was expected to arrive within 25 minutes.
     
  • There is a one-way traffic closure on South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley because of emergency work. The closure is expected to last until 3:59 p.m. on April 1, 2026.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Nob Hill Foods #620 at 222 Mt Hermon Rd, Scotts Valley, passed a county health inspection on December 15 with no critical issues.
