Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A lane on east Highway 152 at Union Street is closed for utility work. The closure will end today at 2:01 p.m.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Golden China Restaurant at 1866 Main St., Watsonville, passed a county health inspection on May 28 with no critical issues.
     

Community crime report

  • A person was arrested for injuring their partner, breaking court orders, trying to commit second-degree murder, having stolen property, vandalism, and repeatedly violating protective orders. The incident happened near the 000 block of Hollow View Lane in Watsonville at 5 p.m. on May 15. (source)
     
  • A person assaulted their spouse or ex, showed a deadly weapon (not a gun), and had a weapon at a K-12 school. This happened near 215 Union St., Watsonville, at 2 p.m. on May 11. (source)
     
  • A person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs with three or more previous offenses, hit and run, driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08 percent, and driving with a suspended license due to a DUI violation. The incident happened near Jolon Drive at Mesa Verde Drive in Interlaken at 11 p.m. on May 10. (source)
     
  • A person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury, driving with a suspended license, violating DUI probation, being drunk in public, and resisting or assaulting a police officer or emergency personnel. The incident happened near the 1000 block of Calabasas Road in Aptos at 10 p.m. on May 14. (source)
     
  • A person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, having a gun and a large capacity magazine, and other related offenses. The incident happened near the 1000 block of South Green Valley in Watsonville at 11 p.m. on May 11. (source)
     
  • A case of domestic violence was reported near Meidl Avenue, Watsonville, at 8 p.m. on May 14. (source)
     
  • A person was arrested for making threats to terrorize, obstructing a police officer, showing a deadly weapon (not a gun), and violating a protective order twice. The incident happened near Hill Avenue in Watsonville at 5 p.m. on May 14. (source)
