Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region
- A major traffic collision happened today at 5:31 a.m. on SR129 near Thompson Road involving a Ford Ranger and a Kia Sedan. One vehicle rolled over and caught fire, but everyone inside was safely evacuated. Four people were involved, and all are conscious and breathing. The road is closed in both directions while the situation is managed. Caltrans is helping with fluids and debris, and tow services have been called for the vehicles.
- The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for roadway excavation. The closure will continue until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
