Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • A white Chevrolet Silverado and a gray Toyota sedan were involved in a collision at the intersection of Trafton Rd and Salinas Rd at 6:53 a.m. today. No injuries were reported.
     
  • A gray Toyota van and a red vehicle were involved in a collision at 77 Las Lomas Dr today. Both vehicles were moved to the right shoulder and are still driveable. No one was injured.
     
  • Northbound Highway 9 at Prospect Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley is under one-way traffic control because of emergency work. The closure is expected to end at 3:59 p.m. on December 5.
     
  • Southbound Highway 17 near Sugarloaf Road in Santa Cruz County, Scotts Valley will be fully closed overnight on Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Crews will be repairing pavement and guardrails damaged by a recent tanker spill.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Cowboys Corner Cafe at 946 Main St., Watsonville, passed a county health inspection on October 22 with no critical issues.
