CELEBRATING LOCAL WOMEN
Women’s History Month and First Friday will collide tomorrow with an outpouring of art shows uplifting and celebrating female creators. In Ben Lomond, the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center is showcasing a gallery of art made by local women from noon to 5 p.m., and downtown’s Santa Cruz Art Expressions is showing the vibrantly colorful work of artist Kelly C Foss starting at 5 p.m., to name a few.
The marquee event is HERstory: Celebrating Women Past, Present & Future, happening at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The evening will spotlight women who have made an indelible mark on the community, with speakers, performances and activities by women-focused organizations. It’s cohosted by Lookout with the MAH and Santa Cruz County Office of Education, and is free. – Lily Belli

A TREAT BEFORE YOU GO
If you’re looking for a great meal or sweet treat this weekend, I have some suggestions in my monthly installment of The Best Things I Ate. In February, I found plush, brightly colored conchas, jacket potatoes loaded with three kinds of meat and crumbled Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, lovingly prepared seasonal vegetables at a hip wine bar, and rediscovered that an old stomping ground was just as good as I remember.
