The City of Santa Cruz plans to close a section of the Coastal Rail Trail next week to clear overgrown vegetation.

The city plans to temporarily close part of the trail from the California Street/Bay Street entrance to the Depot Park trestle to control and remove plants that are obstructing the trail. Crews will prune trees and sweep the trail to clear an 8-foot buffer along a 3,500-foot retaining wall.

The closure will run from Oct, 13 to Oct, 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Trucks and chippers will be parked along the trail, blocking public access.

Questions and concerns may be directed to the Parks and Recreation department at 831-420-5270.
