The Superior Court of Santa Cruz County is seeking applicants to serve on the 2025-26 civil grand jury, a yearlong independent body that investigates local government operations and citizen complaints.

- April 1, Capitola Library: Open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with an informational meeting from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- April 16, Felton Library: Open house from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with an informational meeting from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- April 16, Scotts Valley Library: Open house from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., with an informational meeting from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- April 23, Watsonville Library: Open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with an informational meeting from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The court is hosting four informational meetings in April for interested citizens to talk to current jurors and learn about the impacts of the investigations. The meetings will take place at the Capitola, Felton, Scotts Valley and Watsonville libraries throughout the month.
Made up of 19 members, the civil grand jury is a volunteer-led and state-mandated group. In previous years, it has published investigations on pesticide regulation, road conditions, affordable housing and county jail conditions.
The court is seeking qualified U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years old and who have lived in Santa Cruz County for at least one year to serve on the civil grand jury. The deadline to apply is April 30.
“The Court seeks a diverse volunteer pool representing all communities within the county,” according to a news release.
