Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • A code violation notice has been issued for 603 Bayview Dr., Aptos, under case number NV25400, processed on Sept. 3. The property was cited for several building code violations, including neglected property conditions due to abandonment and lack of maintenance. Inspectors also found unpermitted construction, specifically the installation of a new bay window without the required permits. Additionally, a new sliding glass door and a second-story balcony were added without permits and left unsecured, and the deck railing was removed without proper authorization, creating a potential safety hazard. These violations highlight concerns about both property neglect and unsafe, unpermitted alterations.
