Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on July 10

  • A vehicle collided with a deer on Highway 9 at Brookside Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley. The vehicle is still driveable, and there are no reported injuries. It is unclear if the deer ended up on the road. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A tan Toyota Camry collided with a pole on Highway 9 at Fern Drive in San Lorenzo Valley. The car ended up about 5 feet off the road with major front-end damage. The pole, likely a telephone pole, was almost blocking both lanes. Emergency services are on the way, and Caltrans and PG&E have been asked to assist. Auto Care Tow has been dispatched. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A traffic hazard involving a vehicle was reported at 204 Beach Dr in Aptos. The incident was first reported at 8:49 p.m. A tow request was made to Gonzalez Tow, and additional assistance was requested at 9:26 p.m. The last update was at 9:29 p.m. The incident was reported today.
     
  • There is construction on Highway 1 North at Buena Vista in Watsonville/Pajaro. The #1 lane is scheduled to close shortly after the report, with work expected to continue until about 1:30 a.m.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for excavation work. This closure will continue until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue will have traffic delays and lane closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Construction is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with specific work on April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
