Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on July 24

  • A gray Ford pickup truck was reported as a traffic hazard, parked in the lane at the intersection of Huckleberry Lane and Bear Creek Road in San Lorenzo Valley. A person reported nearly hitting the vehicle. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A major traffic collision happened today involving a silver sedan that crashed into a tree at E Zayante Rd and W Zayante Rd in San Lorenzo Valley. The car’s front engine compartment was smoking, and the driver was still inside. Initially reported as a minor injury collision, it was later updated to a major injury collision. Emergency services and a tow truck were sent to the scene.
     
  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for road excavation work. The closure will continue until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive in Scotts Valley, is closed for the SCWD and SLVWD pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue in Eastside/Live Oak is closed due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, weather permitting. On April 12-13, construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
