Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on August 12

  • A hit and run happened today on Highway 17 Southbound at Scotts Valley Drive in Scotts Valley. No injuries were reported. The Scotts Valley Police Department has been alerted to be on the lookout.
     
  • There is a traffic issue at the intersection of Highway 1 North and Park in Capitola/Soquel. The traffic lights are flashing red and are expected to stay that way until 6:00 p.m. The problem has been reported to NETCOM and SCZ OFC for further action.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for road excavation. This closure will continue until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road in Scotts Valley, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place. The project will continue until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue are experiencing road closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures in this area, weather permitting. Construction is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended work hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 12-13.
