Santa Cruz police say two people were stabbed during an altercation at a parking garage in downtown Santa Cruz on Tuesday evening.

In a statement, the Santa Cruz Police Department said it received a call about the stabbing at 4:59 p.m. in the city garage on the corner of Soquel Avenue and Front Street.

Lookout saw two young men who appeared in stable condition, put on stretchers and into ambulances. Officers took one suspect into custody and transported one victim to a trauma center for medical treatment, police said.

“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” the police statement read.

The department asked people to avoid the Soquel and Front parking garage as the area would be closed for several hours Tuesday night.
