UC Santa Cruz’s police department and Title IX Office are investigating reports of voyeurism in three residential buildings on campus, incidents possibly linked to earlier burglary reports.

On Tuesday, the agencies received reports of three violations of California’s “Peeping Tom” law in three residential buildings: Stevenson College, Building 2, and John R. Lewis College, Buildings 2 and 4. Each victim reported seeing a cellphone possibly being used to video or photograph them while they showered in the communal student bathrooms.

Police said they think the voyeurism and video incidents could be related to several prior burglary reports in the John R. Lewis bathrooms dating back to Jan. 23. In those incidents, students reported their clothing, undergarments and a cellphone being stolen while they showered.

The suspect has been described as a possibly Asian or white male of average height with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, gray pants, low-top white sneakers with a light blue Nike brand logo, and holding a cellphone.
