MBEP Student Ambassadors: building up a robust regional workforce

Through internship projects that support Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) initiatives and members, MBEP’s Student Ambassadors help pave the way toward more affordable housing, a healthier environment, and a greener economy. These work-based learning opportunities ease the transition from school to the workplace while also developing a regional workforce aligned with employer needs.

The journey to make farmworker housing happen: MBEP works to affect lasting change in the region

To address the critical shortage of farmworker housing in the Salinas and Pajaro valleys, it is estimated that the region will need more than 33,000 units of farmworker housing to alleviate critical overcrowding. Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) puts data and technical policy knowledge into action to make housing progress.

MBEP’s Workforce Initiative: supporting tourism and hospitality workers in their careers post-pandemic

Approximately 16 percent of hospitality and tourism workers lost their job in 2020 due to a permanent closure or layoff. At a time of high economic insecurity, Monterey Bay Economic Partnership has taken the lead to help displaced hospitality and tourism workers find new opportunities for their skills and experience.
