Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights,” which opens July 12 at the Crocker Theater at Cabrillo College, marks a transition at Cabrillo Stage, perhaps even the beginning of a significant new era. In her second season, artistic director Andrea Hart is looking to bring about a new stylistic era at Cabrillo Stage, one that might hopefully bring in a new generation and even a new cultural vibe.

Hearing a public desperately concerned about increasing wildfire risk, the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to stall a proposal that would have expanded camping opportunities on private property throughout the county.
New Leaf Markets sets October departure date for downtown Santa Cruz store
New Leaf Community Markets will close its downtown Santa Cruz store on Oct. 15, and plans to open a new store with a much larger footprint on River Street in 2025. Later this year, New Leaf will also open a larger Capitola location on 41st Avenue and celebrate five years in Aptos.
