Dignity Health, which operates Dominican Hospital, has distributed $229,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations that assist vulnerable and underserved populations in Santa Cruz County.

Six local organizations focused on issues such as behavioral health, healthcare access, and economic insecurity, received funding for programs running from March 2025 through February 2026. They are:

  • Dientes Community Dental Care: Access to dental care for people who are experiencing homelessness, $40,000.
  • Diversity Center of Santa Cruz County: The Diversity Center’s health and well-being initiative, $35,000.
  • Food, What: Economic security and behavioral health supports through food, farming and community, $40,000.
  • KidPower: Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower, $30,000.
  • Monarch Services: Servicios Monarca, $49,000.
  • WomenCare: Cancer support services, $35,000.

The program provides restricted charitable contributions for specific projects aimed at improving local service systems and promoting health equity. The funding is part of a grant program run by CommonSpirit Health, the nonprofit hospital system that has operated Dominican Hospital since a 2019 merger between Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives.
