Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on August 29

  • A traffic collision with no injuries happened at the intersection of Casserly Road and Smith Road in the Corralitos/Freedom area. One of the vehicles was a gray Chevrolet Silverado. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A black Subaru sedan and a red sedan were involved in a collision at 9733 Glen Arbor Rd in San Lorenzo Valley at 6:49 p.m. today. The vehicles were blocking the road, but no injuries were reported. A tow was requested for both vehicles.
     
  • Alba Rd in San Lorenzo Valley will be closed today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for tree removal work at 10370, 10885, and 11880 Alba Rd.
     
  • 430 5th Ave. in Santa Cruz will be closed on September 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. while PG&E replaces a utility pole and an overhead transformer.
     
  • Daytime shoulder work is scheduled on northbound Highway 1 between Dimeo Lane and Coast Road, north of Santa Cruz. Crews will be installing new overhead cable on utility poles from Tuesday, September 2 through September 12, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • PG&E has started work to replace a gas main in the Arroyo and Jolon Drive neighborhood off Green Valley Road in Corralitos / Freedom. There is a soft road closure in the area, and construction is expected to continue through November 25.
     
  • A single lane on Soquel Ave. between La Fonda Ave. and State Park is closed on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for roadside sign installation. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction at times, with intermittent impacts. The closure is in effect through today. Location: Soquel Ave. (from La Fonda Ave. to State Park), Eastside / Live Oak.
