Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • The California Highway Patrol helped Caltrans with scheduled maintenance work at 195 Capitola Rd. Ext. The work started at 6:47 a.m. today.
     

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Brook Knoll at 151 Brook Knoll Dr., Santa Cruz, was cited for high-risk violations of improper food preparation or handling and low-risk violations of inadequate washing of utensils or equipment and inadequate hand-washing procedures during a county health inspection on May 13. The issues were resolved during the inspection.
     

Community crime report

  • A man was attacked with a dangerous weapon in a serious crime. The incident happened near the 300 block of Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, at 6 p.m. on May 5. (source)
     
  • Police responded to a report of someone possessing illegal drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol, and having a switchblade in a vehicle. The incident happened near the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Santa Cruz, at 11 p.m. on May 12. (source)
