Quick Take
Looking to continue the energy of April 5 protests that brought out crowds in Santa Cruz and Watsonville, Indivisible Santa Cruz is set for another demonstration, on Ocean Street on Saturday morning.
The progressive group Indivisible Santa Cruz, which took the lead in staging the big “Hands Off” political rally at the Santa Cruz County courthouse April 5, is planning another political action this weekend.

On Saturday, volunteers from Indivisible will be organizing a campaign to rally against the Trump administration, with protesters lined along Ocean Street.
“We really want to continue the wave and the energy,” said Indivisible organizer Amanda Harris Altice. “So we’re going to have sign-waving on both sides of Ocean Street down from either end to the other as far as we can.”
Organizers will meet with participants at 10 a.m. Saturday at the parking lot on Ocean Street near Water Street, next to the former Togo’s, and parking will be available at the county building.
The demonstration is starting earlier than previous ones — organizers say it is expected to last from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — in order to encourage protesters to then attend the free Earth Day festival on Pacific Avenue, which runs from 11:30 to 4 p.m.
Indivisible is currently staging two regular protests every week: Wednesdays at 4 p.m. at the town clock, and Mondays at 4:30 p.m. at the Starbucks at Ocean and Water streets.
The group’s next general meeting will be at London Nelson Center on April 30 at 7 p.m.
