Does anyone else see the disconnect between the two lead articles in today’s Lookout?

The first article about the Live Oak School District losing its superintendent along with firing six teachers, mental health clinician and other staff because of funding shortages right above an article about a developer wanting to change zoning for the Capitola Mall to be allowed to build up to 1,700 new housing units.

Where do they think all of these kids will go to school?

My question is why are local governments not enacting regulations to require funding for schools and medical infrastructure as a requirement to all of this high-density building?

Certainly if California can force local communities to build all of this high-density housing, the local governments can force the developers (and possibly the state) to put up funding to make sure the local communities have the proper amount of education and health care for all of these new residents.
