Women’s History Month is almost here and Lookout’s calendar is full of events focused on celebrating Santa Cruz County and highlighting the pioneering, resilient women that have helped shape our community. From basketball games highlighting women empowerment to events that focus on the past, present and future trailblazing women of Santa Cruz, March will be full of joyful events you won’t want to miss! 

Downtown Santa Cruz is home to many amazing women-owned businesses, be sure to check some out. Kicking off Women’s History Month, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (MAH), in partnership with the County Office of Education and Lookout Santa Cruz, is holding their third annual HerStory event. HerStory celebrates the important women of Santa Cruz County, honoring past, present, and future change-makers. The MAH’s History gallery will also feature significant moments in women’s history in connection with Santa Cruz. The event will take place at the MAH from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and will feature guest speakers and performances, you can register for the free event online.


Get your tickets for Santa Cruz Warriors Women’s Empowerment Night taking place from 6-9 p.m. The Santa Cruz Warriors will be taking on the Birmingham Squadron in an exciting game. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a special Women’s Empowerment giveaway so make sure to show up early. Look out for more details about a pre-game happy hour event.

Following up their holiday food and fund drive, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County invites you to come and celebrate community efforts of fundraising against food insecurity in Santa Cruz. The food bank was able to raise millions of meals this holiday season for those in need, all with the help of Santa Cruz residents who stepped up and pitched in. The event will take place at Hotel Paradox from 5 – 8:30 p.m. and will be a night full of great company and joy to highlight the generosity of Santa Cruz.

The Mountain Community Theater is proud to present their musical drama “The Spitfire Grill” a performance full of perseverance and redemption. Set in the forests of Wisconsin, the drama focuses on an owner of a run-down diner, the Spitfire Grill, a convicted murderer on parole, and is full of mystery and excitement. The performance will take place at Ben Lomond’s historic Park Hall and tickets are available online as well as showtimes.

Sit back, relax and enjoy a beautiful selection of movies during the Watsonville Film Festival, taking place between March 12 and 21. Movies are chosen to uplift Indigenous, Latine, underrepresented filmmakers with stories that honor resilience, creativity and dignity. This year’s theme of the festival is Art and Resistance with films that affirm that film and storytelling are vital forces for truth, representation and cultural resistance. Screenings will take place at the Cinelux Green Valley Cinema in Watsonville, tickets are available online, make sure to check out what films will be shown!

As a part of Santa Cruz’s Downtown Sidewalk Sale, Lookout Santa Cruz will be selling their newest merchandise.
