Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on August 4
- A single vehicle hit a power pole on SB Highway 9, just south of McGaffigan in San Lorenzo Valley. The incident happened at 5:19 p.m. today. No one was injured, and everyone was outside the vehicle. The power pole had only minor damage. The vehicle owner called their own tow service, and the road was not blocked.
- South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is completely facing closures. The closure will last until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
Long-term projects
These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.
- A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
- Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue is closed due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, weather permitting. On April 12-13, construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
