Road incidents as of 10 a.m. on August 18

  • A vehicle created a traffic hazard at the offramp on Highway 1 Northbound at 41st Avenue in Capitola/Soquel. The California Highway Patrol was notified and authorized to move the vehicle off the road. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A minor traffic collision happened today on Highway 1 Northbound at the Rio Del Mar Blvd. Off-ramp in Aptos. It involved a white Dodge Challenger with silver and blue racing stripes and a white Ford van. Initially, injuries were unknown, but it was later confirmed there were only minor injuries. All occupants exited their vehicles to check for injuries, and the vehicles tried to move to the right side of the road. Auto Care Tow was called for the Dodge Challenger due to front-end damage.
     
  • The northbound lanes of Highway 1 at Route 129 in Watsonville/Pajaro are facing closures for electrical work. The closure will last until 2:59 p.m. on August 21.

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road is closed today from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a pipeline project by SCWD and SLVWD. Traffic control is in place to manage vehicles. The affected area is from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue will have road closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive, weather permitting. Construction is scheduled for April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
