The Monterey Bay Economic Partnership has launched a survey on digital inclusion that will gather information on internet access, affordability and digital skills from residents across the region to better understand where residents need the most assistance.

The MBEP is a regional nonprofit organization that aims to improve the economic health and quality of life in Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties.

The survey will assess internet access, affordability and digital skills among the region’s population to ensure that everyone has equal access and opportunities to learn and benefit from digital technologies.

According to the MBEP, as technology becomes a larger part of our economy, it is important that everyone has access to fast internet and the skills needed to navigate and understand it.

The Central Coast Broadband Consortium, led by MBEP, is working on a plan to broaden the availability of high-speed internet throughout Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties.

MBEP is also holding an annual state of the region event on Friday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Center at Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside.
