Property code violations
County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.
- The building code violation at 511 Cedar St., Aptos, originally cited on May 1, 2025, under case number NV25238, has now been resolved. The violation involved unauthorized construction activities, including a remodel and the building of a single-family dwelling and carport, which were being carried out without the required permits or approvals. As a result, a “Stop Work” order was issued by the county to halt all construction until the property owner complied with local building codes and regulations. With the issue now resolved, the property owner has been assessed fees that must be paid to the county.
