Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The property at 3045 Aguazul Dr, Soquel, CA 95073-2501, which was first cited for building code violations on February 28, 2024, under case number NV25063, has now addressed the issues identified. The violations included an overheight fence (OHF), concerns with a retaining wall (RW), and unauthorized fill material exceeding 2 feet in height. These elements were not in compliance with local building regulations, potentially affecting structural integrity and environmental factors. The county is actively monitoring the property to ensure ongoing compliance with the necessary codes and standards.

  • A code violation notice has been issued for the property located at 3280 Axford Rd Unit, Santa Cruz 95062, under case number NV25262. The property was cited for building code violations due to construction and grading activities that were conducted without obtaining the necessary permits. As a result, a “Notice and Order” was issued on July 10, to address these unauthorized activities. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about local building regulations to avoid similar issues.

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.
