Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has received a zoning application seeking to renew a permit for the operation of a two-bedroom vacation rental at 345 30th Ave., Santa Cruz. The proposed project would allow the property to continue being rented out for periods of no more than 30 days at a time. As required by county regulations, the property must have a valid vacation rental permit to operate in this capacity. (view application)

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • A code violation notice has been issued for the property at 1165 Thompson Ave., Santa Cruz, under case number NV25355. According to the “CODE COMPLIANCE CASE(S)” section, the violations involve an addition to the single-family dwelling (SFD) and the construction of a new oversized shed. These activities were reportedly completed without the necessary permits or in violation of local building codes, leading the county to issue a formal “Notice and Order” requiring code compliance.
