Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • There is one-way traffic on South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue because of emergency work. This closure will last until April 1 at 3:59 p.m.
     
  • One lane is closed on North Highway 9 at Encinal Street in the Westside/Downtown area because of shoulder work. The closure will last until 3:01 p.m. on February 28.
     

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • The property at 15432 Two Bar Rd, Boulder Creek, CA 95006-9722, which was first cited for building code violations on March 27, 2023, under case number NV24872, has now addressed the cited issues. The violations involved an unpermitted extensive remodel, meaning significant remodeling work had been completed without the required permits from local authorities. The county is currently monitoring the property to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulations.
     
  • The property at 635 Primavera Rd, Boulder Creek, CA 95006, was cited for building code violations under case number NV24567, specifically for an unpermitted garage conversion. This violation involved converting the garage into another use or structure without securing the required permits from the county. The issue was first processed on April 16, 2021, when a Notice and Order was issued to address the unpermitted work. County officials have confirmed that the violation has now been addressed, and they are currently monitoring the property to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Police responded to an incident involving multiple charges, including having illegal drug items, possessing a controlled substance with previous offenses, burglary, vandalism, and trying to stop a witness or victim from reporting.   • Police responded to a situation involving public intoxication, making threats, stalking, harassing phone calls, and having illegal weapons, including a short-barrel rifle and a large-capacity magazine.   • A person was arrested for multiple charges, including shoplifting with previous offenses, indecent exposure, lewd conduct, and giving a false ID to police. The incident happened near the 200 block of Mt Hermon Rd in Santa Cruz County at 11 p.m. on February 8. (source)
     
  • A woman was arrested for disorderly conduct involving drugs, vandalism causing over $400 in damage, grand theft, and trespassing that interfered with business operations. The incident happened near Highway 9 in Santa Cruz County at 10 p.m. on February 3. (source)
     
  • A driver was involved in a hit and run that caused property damage and was found to be driving under the influence with prior convictions. The driver did not have a required interlock device, was driving with a suspended license, and did not have a valid license.
