Quick Take
The Soquel Avenue Sutter Health urgent care clinic could be closed for months due to storm-related water damage. Patients will be redirected to the Mission Street location.
The Sutter Health urgent care facility on Soquel Avenue is facing a potentially monthslong closure due to storm-related water damage within the building.
Ashley Cabrera, an internal medicine and family medicine supervisor at the facility at 2025 Soquel Ave., told Lookout that the staff was told that the closure could last three to six months, but that timeline is uncertain.
In a statement sent to Lookout, Sutter Health said the water damage is the result of “storm-related impacts” and that the organization is working with patients to reschedule any affected appointments. Urgent care patients are being redirected to the other Santa Cruz location at 1301 Mission St.; the Soquel Avenue clinic has been closed since Dec. 27.
Cabrera told Lookout that the damage was caused by a flooded storm drain. She added that the urgent care is the only service in the facility that is currently closed — family medicine and the lab remain operational, but the latter by appointment only.
Cabrera said that along with the Mission Street location, patients seeking urgent care may still access services at Sutter Health’s Watsonville location. That facility, at 550 South Green Valley Rd., is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Mission Street location is open from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Sunday.
