Lookout Staff Pick: Favorite Store for a One-of-a-Kind Gift –

When my family members back in Canada visit me in Santa Cruz, there are two places I always take them for gifts. One is Pacific Wave — because you can never have too many Red Dot and Screaming Hand shirts. The other is Artisans & Agency. I rarely get bored of browsing the downtown shop’s well-curated mix of prints, jewelry, glassware, cards, home decor and other finds. While the store is not exclusively devoted to locally made gifts, Santa Cruz artists still feature prominently in their offerings, especially the late Doug Ross’ whimsical marine images. Traveling home for the holidays, I can count on Artisans & Agency to help me bring a sun‑splashed slice of Santa Cruz to those long Canadian winters.
